Last week, UK100 published a new report aimed at integrating action to improve air quality and stem climate change.
The report introduces the concept of Clean Air Net Zero (CANZ), which seeks to ensure Net Zero policies include a Clean Air audit and vice versa; there are clear synergies between the two issues and valuable co-benefits to developing policy solutions that consider both.
It identifies some clear win-wins for local authorities to implement policies that would deliver cleaner air and carbon-emission reductions simultaneously. The report also highlights some areas where there are potential contradictions, and risks of unintended consequences.
