In last week’s Autumn Statement, the chancellor announced that electric cars will no longer be exempt from vehicle excise duty from April 2025.
Reactions to the announcement have varied. The RAC does not expect it to reduce the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) but the AA has expressed concern that it reduces the incentive to switch to them.
