Published today is the CMO’s annual report, setting out the scale of the challenge of reducing air pollution, as well as the substantial progress that has been made, and highlighting achievable solutions.

The CMO, Prof. Chris Whitty, makes 15 recommendations spanning transport, urban-planning, industry and agriculture sectors.  Transport-related ones include acceleration of electrification of light vehicles and public transport, greater innovation to reduce air pollution from non-exhaust sources, such as tyres (unabated, and even exacerbated, by electrification) and the pursuit of more options to reduce air pollution from heavy and specialised vehicles.
